Morning Assemblies on the First Day of the Week

As a young and blossoming high school, AGBU High School – Pasadena are in the establishment of new traditions. The school’s newest tradition took place on Monday, February 8, 2010.

As a young and blossoming high school, AGBU High School – Pasadena are in the establishment of new traditions. The school’s newest tradition took place on Monday, February 8, 2010.

At 8:15, the new time for tardy bell, the entire school gathered at the Boyadjian Hall for an assembly. The morning began with an introduction by Vice Principal, Dr. Talin Kargodorian. She explained to students that this new tradition will take place the first day of each week, where the entire school community will gather to pray, recited pledges and hear message with a moral or spiritual message. In addition, the message can discuss a Christian principle, a topic of the week or an important holiday.

As three seniors who are also long time members of AGBU scouts, Tanya Moukhtarian, Aren Markarian, and Hagop Mouradian held three flags of the United States, AGBU and Armenia, the entire school recited the “Hayr Mer”, the Lord’s Prayer, as well as the Armenian and English pledges of allegiance.

After the recitations, Dr. Kargodorian invited Armenian teacher Ms. Kouymjian to say a few words about the “Vartanants Don”. In brief words, she emphasized the importance of the protecting Armenian values our strong belief in Christian principles; the language, culture, and traditions. She reminded that every Armenian in the Diaspora is a Vartan, and he or she has to continue the fight for cultural identity.

The teachers, students and members of the AGBU High School – Pasadena community look forward to the next meeting on the first day of the week. After the morning gathering, students were uplifted and ready to start their school week.
